TUMIZA

The meeting with Norma Winstone, which took place in 2015, was the source of inspiration for structuring a musical project, Tumiza, which is inspired by the singer's historic trio with John Taylor and Kenny Wheeler called Azimuth, which when read backwards gives Tumiza.

Sumptuous and ethereal at the same time, Norma Winstone succeeds in capturing the soul of music, giving the listener a pure sound, without egoism. This is the sound the trio is looking for, playing some pieces written by great contemporary jazz composers such as Fred Hersch, Kenny Wheeler, Steve Swallow with lyrics by Norma Winstone and some original pieces written and arranged by the trio.

The line-up's first record was released by Roman label Emme Record Label in May 2019.

The trio won the first prize at Barga Jazz Contest 2020 and the Targa Luca Flores for best soloist and performed for Sibiu Jazz Contest in Romania, again winning the prize for best soloist.
